Central Illinois Artists Organization (CIAO) started First Friday studio tours in February 2011.
CIAO First Fridays, now a staple of socialization and entertainment in the community, brings the artwork of local talent into the spotlight of the public's view. Through direct communication with artists, tours of studios, the explanation of processes, and demonstrations, the public learns and appreciates the value of handmade artwork.
The Central Illinois Artists Organization serves its community by providing a cohesive, congenial group who promote the advancement of the arts through arts education in the Peoria Central Illinois area. Bringing together those who share an interest in the fine arts, and fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie among our artists - as well as their patrons - it is the sole purpose of Central Illinois Artists Organization to cultivate a community that grows appreciation and understanding of the arts as they present in our region.
Through membership with Central Illinois Artists Organization, artists gain strength as creative professionals through the many opportunities regularly sponsored and presented by our organization and its missive; educational workshops, group shows, juried competitions, awards shows for active members, and opportunities for involvement in monthly studio tours that build relationships with our general public by introducing them to our artists and exposing them to the intricacies of our processes.
Central Illinois Artists Organization seeks to help its members realize their full potential in their chosen media, embracing practitioners of all disciplines and philosophies. Governed by a rotating committee of its members, Central Illinois Artists Organization creates a network of peers who strive to support one another in all our endeavors as creative professionals.
